Chassis Type: 2012 CRG Dark Rider for Rotax DD2 Applications: The CRG Dark Rider comes in both 30mm and 32mm sizes. The Dark Rider Chassis is built specifically for the Rotax DD2 Engine Package. So what is a DD2? This is Rotax's version of a shifter kart! The Rotax DD2 is a 125cc, water cooled, gear driven, two stroke engine with a 2 speed gearbox developling approximately 33hp. The coolest part of the DD2, besides the reliability of the engine, is the F-1 style paddle shifter. New for 2012 sees a drilled aluminum pull style paddle leaving behind the thumb-push silver plastic paddles that was part of this package since the first design. Seat: CRG Karts come with fiberglass seats. Want a custom seat? We stock both Tillet and KG Racing Seats. No-pad, 1/4-pad and fully padded versions are available. Steering Wheel: Carbon Look Steering Wheel. Axle Size: All DD2's come with a 40mm axle standard, due to the Rotax designed DD2 engine configuration. CRG makes two version of their DD2 chassis, both a 30mm and 32mm. Why? To taylor the kart chassis to your requirements. Need more grip, is your local track slippery, are you a heavier driver? All those are good reasons to choose the 32mm version. If you are lighter, run on high grip tracks or just like a softer kart, then the 30mm is the way to go.
*REMEMBER, a DD2 engine has an entirely different mounting structure than a standard shifter kart. A 6 speed ICC or Honda Shifter Kart and a DD2 chassis are NOT interchangable. DD2's have no chain and thus the engine is mounted solidly to the chassis, unlike a chain driven kart.
